OH MY GOD can be a curse!

Shh! Or else...!

You know those words that come out of our mouths when we hit our pinky or see the balance in our bank accounts? I try to think before I speak, but during those shocking instants, emotion takes over and I blurt out one, two or three words that sometimes invoke the name of our creator in not the best of ways. If I count the number of times I have used His name to curse or complain… then I have sinned millions of times throughout my life (Jeez!) In a word full of outrageous crimes, it is easy to overlook simple occurrences like the way we talk under duress. Never have I shown up to reconciliation before the priest with a record of the occasions in which I yelled “Oh my God!”, “For Christ’s sake!”, or even worse, “Holy sh1t!” and “God damn!”. Now that I am conscious about it, I am even having trouble finding words to replace those phrases! Any suggestions? Maybe “Oh, no!” or “Ay, ay, ay!” And will I be able to remember those words when I burn my ear with the curler or spill the salsa over my dress?  Because I doubt it that God will be happier if I just use the “F” word, under the pretext that at least I am not including his name on it!
